Previously Painted Surfaces
Previously painted surfaces
Surfaces must be sanded to remove loose, peeling, flaking or chalky paint. Fill any cracks or holes with a suitable filler. Sand all gloss and semi gloss surfaces to a dull finish and wipe down with a damp cloth to remove surface dust. Apply one coat of Dulux Professional Acrylic Sealer Undercoat or Dulux Professional Total Prep® Acrylic to any areas that have been repaired or which have an uneven gloss level.
Unpainted Surfaces
Bare paperfaced plasterboard
Apply one coat of Dulux Professional Acrylic Sealer Undercoat or Dulux Professional Total Prep Acrylic.
Bare set plaster, fibrous plaster, plasterglass
Apply one coat of Dulux Professional Oil Based Primer Sealer Undercoat. For best results on bare set plaster and powdery surfaces apply one coat of an appropriate sealer binder.
Brush, roller
Stir contents thoroughly before and during use with a broad flat stirrer, using an upward lifting action. Apply two coats of Dulux Professional Ceiling Flat Premium Acrylic ensuring that the first coat is completely dry before applying the second.
Brush/Roller
Rinse brush or roller in water before starting and use while still slightly damp.
Apply full even coats direct from the container. Under hot conditions or on very absorbent surfaces, up to 100ml clean water may be added per litre to assist application.
Airless/Conventional Spray
Airless/Conventional Spray
Suitable for application by all standard spray equipment. If necessary thin with up to 100ml per litre of water to aid atomisation.

Our top tips for touch-up excellence
Ensure the area to be touched up is clean and dry for better paint adhesion.
Use the same can of paint originally used on the ceiling to minimise any colour and/or sheen difference.
Use the same type of roller sleeve and nap length as used for the original paintwork to minimise surface texture differences.
Ensure the roller has just enough paint to cover the damaged area because excess paint may cause gloss and opacity variations.
It is not recommended to use a brush to touch up rolled areas. Brish marks will be visible and cause a gloss difference.
However, if touching up with a brush, use a dry roller to get the same stipple pattern that the ceiling already has.
