Aquanamel® Semi Gloss

Good preparation helps achieve a smoother finish and better adhesion. Before painting, ensure all surfaces are clean, dry and free from dust, oil and grease.

Previously painted surfaces

Surfaces in good condition

Dust down the surface, then clean with Selleys® Sugar Soap. Rinse or wipe clean as directed and allow to dry.​

Loose, peeling or flaking paint​

Scrape off loose paint, sand the area smooth and remove sanding dust before painting.​

Cracks, holes and surface imperfections​

Fill cracks, holes and dents with a suitable filler. Allow the filler to dry, then sand smooth and remove dust. Spot prime repaired areas with Dulux 1Step® Prep Water Based before applying Aquanamel.​

Glossy surfaces

Lightly sand glossy surfaces to a dull finish before painting. Remove all sanding dust, then apply Dulux 1Step® Prep Water Based where required.

Unpainted surfaces​

Timber, MDF, plasterboard

Ensure the surface is clean, dry and free from dust, oil and grease. Sand rough areas smooth, remove dust, then apply one coat of Dulux 1Step® Prep Water Based.​

Brick, Concrete and Masonry​

Efflorescence or mould on masonry or concrete surfaces must be treated.

Ensure the surface is clean, dry and free from dust, oil and grease. Sand rough areas smooth, remove dust, then apply one coat of Dulux 1Step® Prep Water Based.​

Set plaster, fibrous plaster and plaster glass

Ensure the surface is clean, dry and free from dust. Apply one coat of Dulux PRECISION® Sealer Binder, then follow with the recommended undercoat before applying Aquanamel.​

Laminate and other difficult surfaces​

Clean thoroughly, sand to a dull finish and remove all dust. Use an appropriate Dulux PRECISION® Maximum Adhesion Primer before applying Aquanamel.

Stir paint thoroughly with a flat paddle before and during use.​

Apply with a high-quality synthetic brush or a short nap microfibre roller. For larger, flat areas such as doors, use a 5mm microfibre roller for a smoother finish.​

Apply two even coats, working in manageable sections. Avoid overworking the paint once it has started to dry.​

Allow the first coat to dry before applying the second. For the smoothest finish, lightly sand between coats, remove all sanding dust, then recoat.

Dulux Aquanamel® Semi Gloss is suitable for airless spray application.​

Stir thoroughly before use. Apply two even coats, allowing the first coat to dry before applying the second.​

Recommended airless spray setup: 0.008–0.012" tip, 100 mesh filter and 1100–1400 psi. Adjust setup as required for equipment, conditions and the surface being painted.​

Apply even coats and avoid excessive film build. For best results, refer to the current Product Data Sheet or application guide before use.​

Note: Some colours may require more than the recommended number of coats to achieve full opacity.​

Do not pour leftover paint down the drain. 

Unwanted paint should be brushed out on newspaper and allowed to dry, and then disposed of via domestic waste collections.

Leave empty paint containers open in a well-ventilated area to dry out. When dry, recycle the container via steel can recycling programs.

Disposal of empty paint containers via domestic recycling programs may differ between local authorities. Check with your local council first. 

Do not reuse container unless thoroughly decontaminated.
