Make a colour change that lasts twice as long. Dulux Weathershield ColourGuard has been specially formulated using a Heavy Duty Reflective Pigment for superior colour fade resistance for dark colours, lasting up to twice as long as traditional tinted premium paint systems. As the sun’s rays hit the painted surface, a percentage of visible and infrared rays are reflected due to the Heavy Duty Reflective Pigments. This means the coating heats up less and is under less stress than dark coloured coatings containing conventional dark coloured pigment, causing your dark colours to stay brighter for longer.

Dulux® Weathershield® ColourGuard™ Low Sheen is specially formulated for superior dark-colour fade resistance. Its Heavy Duty Reflective Pigments help dark colours stay brighter for longer—up to twice as long as traditional tinted premium paint systems—while delivering a tough, hard-wearing exterior finish. For more help, see How to paint over dark colours. For ideas, explore Dulux colours.
ColourGuard™ uses Heavy Duty Reflective Pigments to reflect a percentage of visible and infrared light. This means the coating heats up less and experiences less stress than dark coatings made with conventional dark pigments, helping dark colours stay brighter for longer. For more help, see How to paint over dark colours. For ideas, explore Dulux colours.
As a guide, Dulux® Weathershield® ColourGuard™ is touch dry in around 20 minutes and ready to recoat after approximately 2 hours when applied at the recommended spread rate in suitable conditions. Drying may take longer in cool, humid or still conditions. Always check the product label and weather forecast before painting, and protect the coating from rain or overnight dew while it dries. For more help, see How to paint exterior walls. For ideas, explore Exterior projects.
The number of coats depends on the surface, its condition and the colour being applied. Dulux® Weathershield® ColourGuard™ generally requires two or three coats, with additional preparation or coats sometimes needed to achieve full opacity on bare surfaces or major colour changes. Make sure the surface is clean, dry and sound, then follow the product label for the correct preparation and coating system. For more help, see Exterior surface preparation. For ideas, explore Exterior projects.
Dulux® Weathershield® ColourGuard™ Low Sheen is designed for suitable exterior surfaces where a durable dark colour with superior fade resistance is wanted, such as approved walls, trims and fences. Suitability and preparation depend on the substrate, so check the current product label before painting. Do not assume it is suitable for walk-on or other trafficable surfaces unless the label specifically approves that use. For more help, see Exterior surface preparation. For ideas, explore Exterior projects.
ColourGuard™ contains Heavy Duty Reflective Pigments that reflect a percentage of visible and infrared light. Compared with dark coatings made with conventional dark pigments, the coating heats up less and is placed under less thermal stress. This supports longer-lasting dark-colour performance but is not a claim about indoor comfort or household energy savings. For more help, see How to choose exterior paint. For ideas, explore Exterior projects.
Dulux® Weathershield® ColourGuard™ is self-priming on masonry, fibre cement, brick and most exterior timbers, so a separate primer is not always required. However, steel and wrought iron need a suitable metal primer, while some timber, galvanised iron, Zincalume® and coastal applications may require a specified preparation system. Make sure the surface is clean, dry and sound, and always follow the product label for your substrate. For more help, see Exterior surface preparation. For ideas, explore Exterior projects.
