Acratex® Roof Primer MX is a water-based, quick drying Light Grey roofing primer which provides good adhesion and corrosion resistance for new or weathered galvanised / Zincalume surfaces. This Universal primer for Colorbond® and ZINCAULME® coated steel in good condition with no rust.

Roofing surfaces
Ensure the surface to be painted is clean, dry and free from dust, dirt, grease, oils and wax. Treat moss & lichen affected areas with a DULUX AcraTex Prep Kleen. Allow to dry thoroughly prior to coating. Alternatively, apply a solution of 20 grams copper sulphate & 70 grams ammonium carbonate to 1 litre of water. Apply liberally and leave for 3-6 days.
High pressure water blast the roof at a minimum of 4000 PSI to remove dirt, excess grime, lichen/moss and all other contaminants and allow to thoroughly dry.
Note: Ensure all down pipes or water connection points are disconnected prior to commencement of cleaning. Loose or peeling/flaking paint must be completely removed. Care should be taken to avoid damaging the protective galvanised film.
Any rust areas or where galvanising has eroded must be cleaned back to bare metal with a wire brush or abrasive paper, washed, dried and spot primed with 2 coats of Luxaprime Zinc Phosphate. The cleaned and dry surface should be primed as soon as possible.
Recommended application is by airless spray using a 17-19 thou tip and at a spraying pressure of 2000 psi.
(Spray pressure will very dependent of equipment make and model applicators may need to adjust accordingly).
Note: As the surface area of a profiled roof is greater than an equivalent flat roof surface, additional material should be allowed for.
Product should be thoroughly mixed before use.

The Roof Membrane system comprises of substrate cleaning and preparation, use of Dulux Acratex Prep Treat to kill all moss and algal and lichen, Primer, followed by 2 coats (minimum) of Dulux Acratex Roof Membrane.
Stir contents thoroughly with a broad flat stirrer, using a stirring, lifting action.
Brush/Roller: Apply an even coat to the prepared surface direct from the can.
Airless Spray: Suitable for application by all standard spray equipment. If necessary thin up to 50 ml per litre with water to aid atomisation.
Unused paintDo not pour leftover paint down the drain. Unwanted paint should be brushed out on newspaper and allowed to dry, and then disposed of via domestic waste collections.Empty paint containersLeave empty paint containers open in a well-ventilated area to dry out. When dry, recycle the container via steel can recycling programs. Disposal of empty paint containers via domestic recycling programs may differ between local authorities.
