Preparation and application step-by-step

Choose your colour
Chose the right colour for your fireplace.

Test the current paint and clean
To ensure a smooth fireplace, fill in any gaps or blemishes and treat efflorescence or mould in the area before starting.
Thoroughly clean the area, ensuring the area with water using a stiff brush to remove all loose material.
Give new concrete, mortar or cement render time to cure, generally four to eight weeks depending on concrete thickness and drying conditions.

Apply one coat of Dulux Texture Primer™
Using Texture Primer™ cut in around the edges and corners with a brush for places that can't be reached with the hand mitt.
Tip
If it’s a porous surfaces, apply a priming coat thinned with water (four parts Texture Medium Cover™: one part water) will condition the surface and help aid application of additional coats.

Stir contents of Dulux Texture Medium Cover™
Using an up-and-down scooping motion, stir Texture Medium Cover™ with a broad flat paddle. Using a brush, cut in around the edges and hard-to-reach corners.

Apply with a hand mitt applicator
Scoop Texture Medium Cover™ directly from the bucket using a hand mitt applicator. Apply to the wall, working the material into highs and lows and broadly across the surface in random circular patterns.

Allow the surface to dry
Wait four hours before applying a second coat. Repeat step three to cover the area. For a medium texture style, squeeze excess material from the mitt and finish in random sweeping strokes to leave a distressed bagged texture pattern.
