Time to Paint

Cubby House

  1. Ensure the surface has been properly prepared prior to starting to paint. Follow the label on the can for more information.
  2. Start by cutting in around the edges of the wall with a brush using Dulux Weathershield.
  3. For best results, apply Dulux Weathershield using the 10-18mm nap roller working from the top down. Paint the underside of your boards then the face. Use long strokes in horizontal motions from one side to the other.
  4. Allow the first coat to dry and repeat the total process again with a second coat.
  5. If painting bare timber a third coat will need to be applied.

Tip

Never stop halfway along a board and return to it later or you’ll create an overlapping of paint, which is difficult to correct.

Picnic Table

  1. Ensure the surface has been properly prepared prior to starting to paint. Follow the label on the can for more information.
  2. If painting a new timber surface, prime with Dulux 1Step Prep.
  3. Start by cutting in around the edges of the piece of furniture.
  4. Apply paint to the surface using short, horizontal brush strokes.
  5. Once you’ve completed an area, while paint is still wet, lightly smooth over the painted section with long brush strokes. Do not reload the brush when you do this, a few strokes should be enough to smooth the surface.
  6. Use the 5-10mm nap roller to paint in the middle section.
  7. Repeat this process until complete. Allow to dry, then give the surface a light sand with 400 grit sandpaper and repeat for a second coat.

Dulux Aquanamel Semi Gloss

Dulux Aquanamel can be used in place of traditional oil based enamels, which not only saves time, but has the added benefit of paintwork not turning yellow with time.
