Meeting the challenge of a sustainable future
Staying at the forefront of technology and investing in research & development is fundamental to building sustainable solutions.
Dulux is committed to the ongoing research and development of innovative products that reduce the environmental impact of our products, without affecting their outstanding performance. This is evident in our proactive shift from solvent-based products to water-based alternatives, and the introduction of Australia's first low VOC paint in the early 1990's.
From initiating sustainable business partnerships, through to products and even the actual clean-up stage, we are continually developing new ways to reduce the environmental impact of our products, without affecting their outstanding performance and the quality results that Australia's professional and DIY painters have come to expect from Dulux.
An Industry Leader
Dulux is committed to continually developing new solutions that help reduce the environmental impact and adhere to industry standards.
World class manufacturing facilities
Dulux opened Australia's largest paint factory with the most sophisticated manufacturing technology of any paint factory in the world, featuring 300kW solar power generation, rain harvesting and on-site waste water management.
Low VOC Paints
Dulux has been at the forefront of low VOC paint innovation. Low VOC paints are lower in Volatile Organic Compounds thereby creating less emissions and less odour.
Dulux has introduced low VOC products such as Dulux envirO2TM, Wash&Wear® and the Decorama tinter system used to deliver Dulux Colour.
Environmental Product Declaration
Dulux is the first major paint brand in Australia to complete Environmental Product Declarations (EPD). Similar to a nutrition label, an EPD provides a transparent, multi-faceted overview of the environmental performance of a product throughout its life cycle.
From the production and processing of raw materials, to manufacturing, distribution and application, EPDs provide transparent data about the environmental impact of a product, including carbon footprint.
Dulux's EPDs are independently verified and registered with the Australasian and International Environmental Product Declaration websites.
Dulux is a founding member of Paintback®, an industry initiative to divert waste paint and packaging from landfill.
Run by an independent, not-for-profit company (Paintback Limited), the scheme enables the collection and treatment of waste paint and packaging through participating sites around Australia. It is the responsible way for households and professional painters to dispose of left-over paint and packaging.
