Grange SLC

The Club was established soon after a double drowning tragedy which occurred off the end of the Grange Jetty. On September 7th 1954, a young girl Gaynor Farrell, aged 5 years slipped from the ramp into the sea. A youth, Daryl Pinnock aged 11 years, saw the mishap while fishing. He slipped off his clothes and went to the girl's aid. Both children struggled in the seas. A rescue attempt of both children followed, without success. As a result of this double tragedy a public meeting was held to establish a surf life saving club
