All surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned and free of all dirt, dust, grease, loose or flaking paint. Efflorescence or mould on masonry or concrete surfaces must be treated before painting. New concrete, mortar and cement render must be allowed to cure for 4 to 8 weeks depending on concrete thickness and drying conditions. Fill holes in masonry with grouting cement. Wash down with water with a stiff brush to remove all loose material. Check the adhesion of previously painted surfaces by cutting an 'X' through the film with a sharp blade, press cellulose tape firmly across the cut and rip it off. If the old paint comes off with the tape it should be removed before repainting.
