DULUX Quit Rust Spraypak Cold Galv Primer

A zinc rich rust inhibiting primer for highly corrosive environments (within 2km of the coast). It protects Steel and Wrought Iron against corrosion and can be used even in the most severe of corrosion conditions. Available in a convenient spraypak for those areas that are fiddly or hard to reach.

Surface Preparation

NOTE : For best results - rust, mill scale, oxide deposits, loose or flaking paint on steel surfaces should be removed by power tool cleaning or abrasive grit blast cleaning. This is essential to achieve maximum protection. Following surface preparation the cleaned and dry surface should be primed as soon as possible. PREPAINTED SURFACES : Ensure any loose and flaking paint (see Note 1.) is scraped off. Sand all surfaces to a flat finish. Dust off. Treat any bare metal as indicated below. Note 1. Check the adhesion of the old paint by cutting an 'X' through the film with a razor blade or trimming knife, pressing cellulose tape firmly across the cut and ripping it off. If the old paint comes off with the tape it should all be removed before applying paint. STEEL/WROUGHT IRON : Remove all rust scale by scraping, sanding or wire brushing. Wipe surface with min. turps to remove residual rust, grease, oil and dirt. Allow to dry. STEEL/WROUGHT IRON (heavily rusted) : Prepare surfaces as above. Treat any residual rust with Dulux Quit Rust Rust Remover for heavy rust and Dulux Quit Rust Metal Clean for light rust. DAMAGED GALVANISED IRON : Remove white rust by wire brushing or scraping. Care should taken not to damage the galvanising of unrusted areas during wire brushing or scraping. Clean with sugar soap solution. Rinse off thoroughly.
