Human Resources Testimonials

Shirley
Platcher
HR Officer for Dulux Australia
One sentence describing your position:
I Iam the first point of contact for any HR related queries.
How did you come to work for Dulux?
I used to work in St.Kilda and did not enjoy the long, traffic
jammed travel to and from work. I started looking out for
opportunities to work closer to home and that's when an opportunity
in Orica Woodcare came along and I have not looked back since
then.
What do you enjoy the most about the jobs you've
had?
The jobs I've had so far have given me the opportunity to
develop and enhance my skills and knowledge and grow as an
individual. I enjoy learning new things and of course the
variety these jobs have offered me.
What have been your career highlights?
Move from Sales support in Orica Woodcare to the Human Resources
Officer role for OCP. After being in Admin/Sales Support and
similar roles for almost 9 years I was ready for new
challenges.
What training have you done at Dulux?
I have done a First Aid course through the company and have also
done the Dulux Colour Solutions course at the Dulux Training
Academy.
Would you recommend Dulux as an employer to your friends
and if so why?
I would most definitely recommend Dulux to my family and
friends. I have been with the company for over 2 years now
and I love the work culture, flexibility, work life balance and the
development opportunities it offers. It's a great place to
work!!

Farha Momandwall
HR Officer for Dulux New Zealand
One sentence describing your position:
Provision of wide ranging support in HR project delivery, Learning
& Development, Corporate induction, employee life cycle
paperwork, HR systems maintenance and policy clarification.
How did you come to work for Dulux?
I came into Dulux through the Graduate Program. My current role
is a third year rotation within Dulux. I started off in the
Recruitment centre, recruiting for various positions for Orica
Consumer Products Australia wide. Following that I was given the
opportunity to be in a project role within the HR department
working on various different HR projects for the OCP demerger. This
role was a real eye-opener and provided me with a lot of
challenges.
What do you enjoy the most about the jobs you've
had?
I really enjoy the diversity in all my roles. I went from
developing talent sourcing strategies in recruitment to having a
strategic vision and developing frameworks for a high performance
organisation within my project role. My current day to day tasks
are all quite diverse in the sense that I am dealing with various
aspects of HR across Australia and New Zealand.
What have been your career highlights?
My career highlight has definitely been my role as a Project
Analyst. This role allowed me to be involved with the demerger of
OCP and exposed me to work activities at a strategic level. This is
an opportunity that a graduate rarely gets to experience and is
definitely a rewarding one.
What training have you done at Dulux?
I am glad to be working for a company that values training and
development in its employees. In my given time with Dulux thus far,
I have been able to attend various types of training such as Hay
Group Job Evaluation, Managing for Insight, Targeted Selection and
Dulux Interior courses at the onsite Training Academy.
Would you recommend Dulux as an employer to your friends
and if so why?
Yes I would because I love my role and the fact that I get to
deal with everyone across the business allows me to say that Dulux
has a great workplace culture with a work environment full of
enthusiastic & friendly people.

Never leave a paint-covered roller exposed to the air for a long length of time. If you’re having a break, wrap it in plastic cling wrap. Sounds odd, but it works.
