One sentence describing your position:
I am a consultant who is employed at Padstow and I look after
the Colour Consultancy bookings, the Orica Training Academy queries
and bookings and the Dulux Accredited Painters referrals and on a
weekend roster I assist with the technical calls.
How did you come to work for Dulux?
I was working for BBC Hardware/Hardwarehouse from 1984 and
became friends with staff at Dulux by ordering paints and attending
retail product launches and I was lucky to be told of a position
vacant in the technical department in 1996 and made the break from
hardware stores into the real world of paint.
What do you enjoy the most about the jobs you've
had?
I have been very lucky to have worked with people who are
committed to their work and always work as teams which I think is a
very important part of the business and having worked in the area
of paints for so long have seen many changes in all different areas
of retail selling and also from the other side of being in the call
centre.
What have been your career highlights?
I have had the opportunity to progress in many different avenues
within the company but I feel very lucky to have the position I
work in as it is one that enables me to attend many different
conferences and meetings that involve the areas I work and can be
quite funny when working with people who have such a great sense of
humour.
What training have you done at Dulux?
I feel our training is ongoing and have attended many courses at
the Training Academy and also within our office to improve our
ability to deal with customers and technical knowledge. At the
moment we are having classes on site for the certificate 4 in
Customer Contact which has involved many different aspects of being
in a call centre and increases our knowledge for Investigative
Communication and sales technology and this is a great step to
ensure we can manage commercial ownership.
Would you recommend Dulux as an employer to your friends
and if so why?
Yes most definitely as no doubt from my previous paragraphs I
can only assure future employees that they will be trained for
their position and the company is one who are assured to be open
for suggestions for improvement by their staff and in my department
are many who have been with the company for more than 25 years and
that to me really says something.

How did you come to work for Dulux?
As a Painter and Decorator by Trade. I was looking for a change
yet wanted to remain within the Paint industry.

had?
I enjoy providing product information and problem solving for
DIY customers through to Trade Painters and Architects.

Winning Painting and Decorating Apprentice of the Year

Yes, I would recommend working for Dulux. Working for a market

Helping to establish and nurture the Trade Card facility to it's
popular status.
What training have you done at Dulux?
Many forms of training are provided by Dulux. Very much
enjoyed training with our Credit Dept for Trade Card role and
helping to train New Zealand staff.
