Duremax® GPE is a two-pack, high performance general purpose epoxy. The epoxy resin provides high strength adhesion to the substrate as well as excellent cohesion, binding the pigments together tightly to form a tough protective barrier. Duremax® GPE is compatible with all Dulux zinc rich primers and can be topcoated with a wide range of coating types.

Performance Guide

WeatherabilitySome chalking and yellowing may occur on exterior exposure if not topcoated with a suitable UV resistant coating
Heat ResistanceUp to 120°C dry heat.
Water ResistanceExcellent resistance to fresh and salt water. Factory packaged colours (excluding those containing aluminium) are suitable for immersion.
Abrasion ResistanceGood abrasion resistance when fully cured.
Solvent ResistanceResists splash and spillage of most hydrocarbon solvents, refined petroleum products and most common alcohols.
Acid ResistanceSuitable for splash and spillage of mild acids. Aluminium containing colours are not suitable for acidic conditions.
Alkaline ResistanceExcellent resistance to splash and spillage of strong alkali.
Salt ResistanceExcellent resistance to neutral and alkaline salt solutions.

Application

Roller, Brush, Airspray, Conventional Spray

Surface Preparation

Round off all rough welds and sharp edges, and remove weld spatter. Degrease by detergent wash according to AS1627.1. For all structural and decorative steel, abrasive blast clean to AS1627.4 Class 2.5. Remove all dust. Apply first coat before surface deterioration occurs.

Uses

Duremax® GPE is suitable for the protection of structures exposed to moderate to severe environments such as chemical plants, off-shore platforms, refineries, ship loaders, coal wash plants and manufacturing facilities. Duremax® GPE is also suitable for fresh and salt-water immersion when untinted, except when cured with Quickturn Hardener.

Mild steel: Abrasive blast AS1627.4 Class 2.5. Typical system: 1 x Zincanode® 402 @ 75 microns + 1 x Duremax GPE @ 150 microns + 1 x Weathermax® HBR @100 microns.
