Approvals: AS3750.19 Type 2; Standard Red is approved to APAS 2921 and APAS 0032. Approved to AS 2910 with Ferrodor 810 topcoat.

Duremax® GPE ZP is a two-pack epoxy steel primer formulated with zinc phosphate to offer active inhibitive protection to the steel against corrosion. The epoxy resin provides high strength adhesion to the substrate as well as excellent cohesion, binding the pigments together tightly to form a tough barrier offering additional passive barrier protection.

Performance Guide

WeatherabilitySome chalking and yellowing may occur on exterior exposure if not topcoated with a suitable UV resistant coating.
Heat ResistanceUp to 120°C dry heat.
Water ResistanceExcellent resistance to fresh and salt water. Excellent resistance to immersion when suitably topcoated.
Abrasion ResistanceGood abrasion resistance when fully cured.
Solvent ResistanceResists splash and spillage of most hydrocarbon solvents, refined petroleum products and most common alcohols.
Acid ResistanceSuitable for splash and spillage of mild acids.
Alkaline ResistanceGood resistance to splash and spillage of strong alkali.
Salt ResistanceExcellent resistance to neutral and alkaline salt solutions.

Application

Roller, Brush, Airspray, Conventional Spray

Surface Preparation

Round off all rough welds and sharp edges, and remove weld spatter. Degrease by detergent wash according to AS1627.1. For all structural and decorative steel, abrasive blast clean to AS1627.4 Class 2.5. Remove all dust. Apply first coat before surface deterioration occurs.

Uses

Duremax® GPE ZP is suitable for the protection of structures exposed to moderate to severe environments such as chemical plants, refineries, ship loaders, coal wash plants and manufacturing facilities. Duremax® GPE ZP is also suitable for fresh and salt-water immersion when suitably topcoated.
